About the Author

Susan Perkins Weston

Susan Perkins Weston is executive director of the Kentucky Association of School Councils, a statewide non-profit organization that works to help school councils succeed in improving student performance. She previously served as an associate with the Office of Educational Research and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education.

Weston is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Yale University Law School. She lives in Danville with her husband, Beau, and their children, Molly, Nora, and Joe.

Weston has written other books for the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence: School-Based Decision Making: A Guide for School Council Members and Others (1992 and 1993 editions) and A School Budget Primer: Citizens' Guide to School Finance (1992).
