Lutricia Woods

Joined the Prichard Committee in 1997 as a community support coordinator.  In this capacity she was responsible for writing/developing curriculum for the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership designed to help parents understand Kentucky’s Standards-Based educational system.  She has trained and coached more than 250 parents to assume decision-making leadership roles in their child’s school.  Using a dialogue process, Parents and Teachers Talking Together, she has facilitated conversations between parents and teachers, in numerous schools, focused on improving student achievement.  She has actively supported schools with their efforts to involve parents as partners, by reviewing school improvement plans, making recommendations, and presenting professional development sessions for teachers and school administrators. She developed and helped implement an orientation program for newly hired community support coordinators to provide a smooth transition into their new role.  In addition, she mentored community support coordinators throughout their orientation period.
In Lutricia’s role as Manager of Curriculum and Training, she writes and develops workshops for both the Center for Parent Leadership and the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership. She is responsible for developing and customizing workshops for schools/school districts, community groups, parents and professional organizations. She utilizes facilitated learning processes applying research-based professional development strategies in all her work. She frequently presents at professional regional, state and national conferences.

Lutricia is a native of eastern Kentucky and a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a degree in nursing.  She is active in her church, a graduate of Leadership East Kentucky, a volunteer in her niece’s elementary school and serves on the board for a local Urban Renewal and Community Development Agency.  She was recipient of the Kentucky Association of Schools Council's 2002 Vision Award.
