A native of Louisville, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University with a double major in Health Education and Recreation and a minor in Sociology. Since then her varied work experience has included working with "at risk" boys in Ireland and most currently on public school education. Her volunteer activities have focused on education and environmental organizations such as Child Assault Prevention, Boy Scouts, Jefferson County Environmental Trust Oversight Board and the PTA where she was awarded an Honorary Life Member in recognition of devoted and distinguished services to children and youth. Carol was a member of the Commonwealth Institute's pilot program and joined the staff in 1998 as Community Support Coordinator for Jefferson County. She has served several terms on the site based decision making council at her son’s school as well as served as a committee member on the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan. She serves as a steering committee member of Louisville Urban League’s Campaign for African American Achievement and is a member of the Educational Leadership Development Collaborative, an association of educational organizations in Kentucky working together to improve student learning through leadership.
Carol is the mother of three boys who all attended Jefferson County public schools. In her free time, she enjoys reading about early frontier life in the Kentucky region and whenever possible, escapes to the Jefferson Memorial Forest to explore, hike and rejuvenate.
